The method above is called SSH (Secure Shell) is a network protocol that allows data to be exchanged over a secure channel, in this case between a computer and your iPhone. If you have a jailbroken iDevice, an SSH connection over a wireless network is often the best way to browse your iPhone, carry out simple file transfer back and forth to the iPhone, or manually install applications to it.
For Windows user, you can use [WinSCP] and [CyberDuck] if you are on a Mac.
I myself is a Windows user, so the following guide is for WinSCP only
YOU NEED OPENSSH FROM CYDIA TO WORK, DOWNLOAD IT FROM CYDIA.
- Download the latest version of WinSCP
- Install and run it.
- Click [New]
- In the host area you have to insert your WiFi IP Address of your home network that you are connected to. i.e. 192.168.1.x or 10.1.1.x
- To find out your WiFi network address. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > [your network name] > Click on the blue (>) next to your network name
- Look at IP Address, thats the numbers you have to put in the [Host] section
- If you have SBsettings installed, you can immediately get your IP Address on the mainpage of SBsettings info bar.
- [Username] is root
- [Password] is alpine for default or your own password if you’ve changed it via MobileTerminal
- Click [Login] and start browsing through your iDevice’s directory
*** You might fail to connect at first few tries, just reconnect and reconnect.
